Sustainability

Anyone in the trade understands the tricky path we weave when it comes to sourcing. Matching different countries expectations with regards to sustainability and what the market requires comes down to culture, languages, local legislation and ultimately, pricing. We all want a better future for our children, and for that reason we will always strive to push sources that have adopted the best policies. Our embracing of ASC and MSC suppliers is a testament to this.

Our Slavery Policy

More Info

We acknowledge our responsibility to the Modern Slavery act 2015. We have a close relationship with all our suppliers & the service they give us. We import fish, shellfish & fish products from sources both inside the EU, & outside, which have more risks for slavery & human trafficking so all our suppliers must also have slavery policies in place.

Logistics

Our extensive network and unsurpassed knowledge how to move everything from fresh deliveries of 100kg to full frozen trucks to anywhere in Europe gives us the edge.
If you cant deliver, you cant sell.

Why Humboldt ?

The Humboldt current – bringing life to the Oceans

The Humboldt Current helps create one of the world’s most productive upwelling areas and is the largest in the southeastern Pacific Ocean.

A current of cold Antarctic water known as the Humboldt (or Peru) Current flows up the coast of Chile and Peru, then turns west and leaves the coast. This causes deep, nutrient-rich water to rise up along the coast. This upwelling creates perfect conditions for abundant plankton and an extraordinary variety of marine mammals, seabirds, and fish.

The Humboldt Current Large Marine Ecosystem extends along the West Coast of South America from Northern Peru to the southern tip of Chile. It is one of the major upwelling systems of the world, responsible for extremely high levels of organic production. The Humboldt Current system contains cold, low salinity waters that flow in the direction of the Equator and can extend 1,000 kilometers offshore.

We solve seafood problems … by swimming against the tide. Thirty years of combined experience counts for nothing if its not put to good use, and that is what we offer. Effective seafood solutions for the products you don’t have the resources to be on top of. After all, no buyer is an island. We work in one of the most dynamic and yet traditional industries in the world, where few professionals could keep up the vast changes we have to adapt to every year.

Legislation, weather, politics, logistics, exchange rates; we have to deal with it all, along with the knowledge and know how required to market a category that has hundreds of species and thousands variables. We are here to help. Not with the products you know about, but with the ones that you don’t.

Our objective is to be catalyst in creating new trade between the west coast of South America and Europe. We take on many roles and do so in a way that best suits both our suppliers and clients. In effect we are importers, agents, and representatives and our motto is “the path of least resistance”. We also take on the role of consulting suppliers on what is required to enter new markets.

We understand that each product line has its own requirements and more importantly understand that end clients need to be able to have open lines of communication with all parties involved. For this reason, Humboldt represents only one supplier per product line. This approach ensures transparency and long term stability, required for the development of new product lines.
